Truxillo Gardens #2
Of the four small folk houses we are renovating that were formerly owned by renowned Houston preservationist Bart Truxillo, this is the third to be completed. Most of the interior details of this Craftsman bungalow had been lost by the time we acquired it; that, and the disjointedness of the original floor plan, convinced us to reimagine the plan from scratch. We approached the project in a modern way, emphasizing large, open, vaulted spaces, using modern lighting and finishes, and making the spaces as bright and airy as possible. We added a sizable but unobtrusive rear addition, with a suite including bedroom, study, bathroom and closet, as well as a mudroom and light-filled sunroom.
